After a brief period as a model for fashion before moving into acting, appearing as guest stars on TV shows such as Boy Meets World in the 1990s and High Incident. She made her film debut in the 1997 drama film Nowhere. Following her appearance in American Beauty (for which she was awarded the BAFTA Award) and American Pie which attracted her much attention, she completed her transition into major roles. She's appeared alongside American Pie's Co-Star Jason Biggs in Loser (2000) before starring as the main character in Sugar & Spice (2001). Spun is an independent film that aired in 2002, and the action movie Trauma (2004) was her two most recent appearances. In addition, she was a part of the HBO the drama Six Feet Under. The show was an instant hit in 2004, and in 2005, the Screen Actors Guild nominated her as one of the most outstanding stars. In 2008, Suvari appeared in various films like Day of the Dead The Mysteries of Pittsburgh and also as in the adaptation to The Garden of Eden.
